Abstract

A protocol for production of somatic embryos was developed for mango cultivar Amrapali using nucellus tissue as source explant. Somatic embryo production increased when the nitrogen concentration in the medium, particularly ammonium salts was less coupled with higher 6 N -benzylaminopurine concentration. Germination of somatic embryos into plantlet was improved by lowering the sucrose concentration and the addition of gibberellic acid and 6 N -benzylaminopurine.
